New – Bruce Gandy Blackwood Pipe Chanter

No Comments Bagpipes

The Bruce Gandy chanter has been in development since 2003 and is based on an old beautiful sounding chanter Bruce himself played at the time. Bruce felt that the holes on this old chanter were just too big to play comfortably. Together with McCallum Bagpipes, Bruce began developing his own chanter.

Over years Bruce has played various versions of his own chanter, making alterations and perfecting the sound over time. Final improvements included altering the HighG hole to flatten the pitch for better balance. Finger hole sizing was slightly decreased to achieve more comfort when playing. Finally, the holes were rounded off to remove the sharp edges, giving the chanter the feel that is has been played for 30 years.

The final result is astonishing. The feel of the chanter with its spacing and rounded-off holes is remarkable. The chanter sits very comfortably in the hand and the sound and stability is as good as it gets.
